Microsoft fixes Windows 11 installation errors and will start rolling them out in June

According to reports, the relevant fault occurs during the restart phase after the update is installed, and the failure usually occurs about one-third of the way through. Then the system will display a prompt such as “A problem occurred and changes are being reversed”, causing the update to fail to complete successfully. The cause of this problem is related to an inconspicuous storage problem in the system, which in turn causes installation abnormalities.

After the problem occurred, Microsoft used the “known issue rollback” mechanism for server-side processing to reduce the impact of the failure and prevent users from being stuck in a state of repeated restarts or continuous installation failures. In managed corporate and institutional environments, IT administrators can also use corresponding Group Policy packages to deploy remediation measures in a targeted manner, but only if the relevant policies have been installed and enabled.

At present, Microsoft has confirmed that this problem is permanently fixed through the optional update KB5089573, and relevant fix information has been added to the version release notes. This means that users who have already installed KB5089573 or subsequent updates do not need to take additional temporary measures.

However, KB5089573 is an optional update and will not be automatically pushed to all devices immediately. Only users who have chosen to receive optional updates in Windows Update will be the first to receive this fix. According to Microsoft's current arrangements, the relevant fixes will enter the scope of automatic distribution in the June patch update, and more users will receive the fixes through regular security updates. For Windows 11 users who have recently encountered the 0x800f0922 error, manually installing this optional update will be a more direct solution.
