The media said that the order came from Intel, and the latter's new generation of processors may be “entirely” produced by TSMC.

According to reports, Intel’s Arrow Lake, which is expected to be launched in the second half of 2024, is currently undergoing news of a revised production blueprint, and it is tentatively planned to have dual versions in parallel. In addition to U series and other CPUs that will skip the Intel 20A process and switch to Intel 3, the top H/HX series CPUs will also be manufactured using TSMC's N3 process, plus the graphics chips, system chips and input and output that have been delivered to TSMC. The chip, and most likely the entire processor, is produced at TSMC.

Gearbest has reported that in the face of the difficult situation of increasing production capacity utilization, TSMC has rarely made concessions on foundry prices. Taiwanese media said that TSMC has begun negotiations with customers. If the production volume meets the regulations, discounts can be given on the quotations. This time, TSMC has won a large order from Intel, which will undoubtedly greatly reduce revenue pressure.

As for Intel Arrow Lake, it uses a Tile design, and different modules can be manufactured using different process nodes. There have long been rumors that the desktop version of its most important computing module will be manufactured using TSMC’s 3nm process, while the mobile version will use Intel’s 20A process. However, some foreign media reported that Intel may completely abandon the Intel 20A process on Arrow Lake and fully switch to TSMC's 3nm process node. It may choose the N3B process, but it is still under discussion.
