India’s PC and tablet market grows 13% in 2024 and may grow 8% in 2025

[ Gearbest Technology News]The latest data from Canalys shows that in the fourth quarter of 2024, India’s PC and tablet market maintained strong growth, with total shipments reaching 4.6 million units, a year-on-year increase of 6.4%. Laptop shipments increased by 11% to 2.6 million units, tablet shipments rose by 4.3% to 1.1 million units, and desktop shipments decreased to 852,000 units, a drop of 3.6%. Throughout the year, the market grew by 13%, exceeding 20 million units, of which tablets surged by 41%, while laptops and desktops increased by 5% and 1% respectively. Looking ahead to 2025, India’s PC and tablet market is expected to grow by 8%, while entering 2026, the market will achieve a 5% increase with the demand for replacement during the update cycle.

In the fourth quarter of 2024, all segments of India’s PC (excluding tablets) market grew, with corporate procurement increasing by 25% year-on-year. This growth is mainly due to the rising demand for global enterprises upgraded systems during the update cycle and the imminent termination of Windows 10 operating systems (EoS). In addition, government bidding, especially laptops, has also seen significant growth, while the education industry has grown by 34%, mainly due to public education institutions. As online channels maintain a good inventory level in order to face the end of the year sales, the consumer market is relatively stable, with only 1% growth.

Entering 2025, India’s PC market is expected to grow by 9%. “As the Windows 10 operating system enters the ‘retirement countdown’, the update cycle has attracted much attention, making enterprise demand a major growth force.
