Apple adds AI smart naming feature to productivity apps in macOS 27

[ Gearbest Technology News]Apple has brought a practical small AI enhancement to productivity applications in macOS 27. According to foreign media reports, applications such as Pages and Numbers can now automatically suggest file names based on the document content.

Specifically, when a user creates a new document in Numbers, Pages or TextEdit and starts filling in the content, the Mac's local AI model will analyze the document content and then give appropriate file name suggestions. For example, after Macworld's Halyna Kubiv created a document in Numbers, the system suggested naming it “User Engagement Metrics iOS 27”; a few minutes after writing content in Pages, the app automatically recommended “iOS 27 Review” as the file name.

Instead of just one suggestion, the feature provides multiple candidate names for the user to choose from. Of course, users can also ignore the suggestions and enter the desired file name themselves. These name suggestions appear automatically a few minutes after a user edits a document, and also pop up when a new document is saved for the first time.

Although this feature is not as eye-catching as the AI upgrade of the new version of Siri, it represents a trend – Apple is embedding lightweight AI capabilities in every corner of the operating system, using small functions to solve actual pain points in daily use. It is expected that similar practical AI enhancements will continue to appear in various versions of new systems such as iOS 27 and macOS 27.
