What is even more surprising is that the high-end model has a shorter support cycle than the standard model.
Xiaomi has made it clear that the Pad 7 Pro can only get software support in 2028, and can only be upgraded to Android 17 system, and the security patch will only last until this year. However, the standard version of Pad 7 can enjoy a longer “lifetime” – not only can it use Android 19, but its security support will also continue until 2031.
Simply put, the standard version of Pad 7 can get 4 years of system update and 6 years of security patches, while the higher-configured Pro version only has 2 years of system update and 3 years of security support. This wave of operations is indeed interesting, after all, high-end models usually receive more software support.
It is not clear why Xiaomi wants to make such a contrast, perhaps it is related to cost and user group positioning? However, the official has not yet made a formal explanation, so we can only continue to pay attention.
It is understood that these two tablets were first launched in China in October last year, and both used 11.2-inch 3.2K screens, supporting 144Hz high refresh rate, 3:2 screen ratio and 800 nits peak brightness. The standard version uses Snapdragon 7+ Gen3, 8MP front + 13MP rear camera, Wi-Fi 6E and 45W fast charging, and a battery capacity of 8850mAh. The Pro version directly uses Snapdragon 8s Gen3, the camera is upgraded to 32MP selfie + 50MP main camera, and supports Wi-Fi 7 and 67W fast charging, but the battery capacity is 8850mAh like the standard version.
