[Gearbest Technology News]Recently, there have been many rumors online about Samsung launching a cheaper foldable phone in order to better compete in the growing foldable phone market. But cheap is only relative. How much does this foldable screen phone cost? Now, foreign media have got news about the price of this folding screen phone.
The report comes from Sisa Journal, which claims that the foldable phone will lower costs by using lower-end technology than the flagship Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6. And the cost of the phone itself may be less than $800 (approximately RMB 5,800).
However, for a mobile phone, 5,800 yuan is still not cheap, at least not as cheap as the Samsung Galaxy A55. The report doesn't give the phone a name, but it could be called the Z Fold 6 FE.
In terms of configuration, Sisa Journal said that the new foldable device will have “lower processor, display and battery specifications” compared to the flagship device. Perhaps Samsung will use the just-announced Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chip, which is tailor-made for more affordable Android phones.
Sisa Journal also says that we can expect a similar camera to existing Galaxy foldable phones. These include similar design structure and hardware to the Z Flip 5 and Z Fold 5.
It's unclear what kind of design Samsung will use, but the cheaper Z Fold 6 version will definitely be more attractive than the Z Flip 6. However, we won't know for sure how much this new, cheaper foldable phone will cost until Samsung actually announces it. The new phone will likely be unveiled at the next Galaxy Unpacked event this summer.
