[ Gearbest Technology News]On June 1, TrendForce released the latest memory industry survey. The DRAM market in the first quarter of 2026 will usher in explosive growth. Driven by the accelerated increase in general DRAM contract prices, the overall industry revenue increased by 81% month-on-month in the quarter, reaching US$97 billion. In terms of manufacturer rankings, Samsung and SK Hynix ranked in the top two.
Samsung and SK Hynix
Judging from the performance of major suppliers, Samsung relied on the significant growth of its product average selling price (ASP) and the highest proportion of server DRAM revenue. Its first-quarter revenue surged 93.4% quarter-on-quarter to $37.32 billion, and its market share rose to 38.5%, ranking first.
SK Hynix has the highest proportion of HBM bit shipments among the three major OEMs. Its first-quarter revenue was US$27.98 billion, a quarter-on-quarter increase of 62.5%, and its market share was adjusted to 28.8%, ranking second.
Micron's first-quarter revenue increased by 81.6% quarter-on-quarter to US$21.75 billion, and its market share remained at 22.4%, the same as the previous quarter, ranking third.
Micron
According to TrendForce Consulting's analysis, due to the shortage of supply in the first quarter, the production and shipments of the three major original manufacturers tended to be server application products with high unit prices and high profit margins. As the construction of clean rooms still takes time, the original factory will mainly rely on process upgrades to expand bit supply in 2026.
This market structure also creates opportunities for second-tier manufacturers. Manufacturers that focus on mature process products, such as Nanya, Winbond Electronics and Power Semiconductor Manufacturing Co., Ltd., are actively filling the market demand that the top three manufacturers cannot meet after switching processes. Among them, Nanya's first-quarter revenue increased by 60% month-on-month to $1.55 billion; Winbond Electronics' revenue surged 91.4% month-on-month to nearly $570 million; if Power Semiconductor only counts its own consumer-grade DRAM products, revenue increased by 29.9% month-on-month to $43 million.
