Apple New Hardware Release: No New Products in 14 Years

For more than ten years, Apple has continuously released new hardware product lines, starting from the iPad in 2010 to the Vision Pro in 2023. But for the first time in 14 years, Apple failed to release any major new hardware products throughout 2024, focusing only on updates and improvements to its existing product lines.

The record is broken! For the first time in 14 years, Apple has not launched a new hardware product line

Apple has a number of major hardware updates coming in 2024, such as the redesigned iPad Pro and Mac mini, but these are evolutions of existing categories rather than entirely new product lines. Apple Intelligence is software-based and does not meet the standards of new hardware. This makes 2024 the first year since 2009 that Apple has not released a new hardware product.

The record is broken! For the first time in 14 years, Apple has not launched a new hardware product line

Many of Apple’s product lines have reached high maturity. Instead of creating entirely new categories, Apple has chosen to improve existing product lines. For example, it introduced OLED display technology in the iPad Pro.

Foreign media analysts suggest that Apple’s long-rumored electric car project consumed significant resources before its reported cancellation. Additionally, the massive development needs of “Apple Intelligence” and Vision Pro may have absorbed much of Apple’s recent R&D capacity.

Rumors indicate that Apple plans to launch a smart home “command center” in 2025. This device, similar to the HomePod with a 7-inch display, could form a new product line as Apple shifts its focus back to smart home technology. In addition, the rumored iPhone 17 Air may also become Apple’s new hardware product line this year. For more tech updates, check out Gearbest Blog.
