According to Gearbest, QD-OLED is an OLED solution with built-in quantum dot (QD) technology in the display. The blue light source is converted into red and green light through the QD color conversion layer. Its features include high color purity, color accuracy, color volume and brightness performance; at the same time, affected by the optical properties of QD, it can achieve a wider viewing angle and bring faster response speed due to its self-luminous properties. Compared with LCD, it can reduce screen smear and improve clarity at the same refresh rate.

At the customer and product level, Samsung Display stated that its QD-OLED display customers cover 20 manufacturers including Acer, Asus, Dell, Gigabyte, HP, Lenovo, MSI and Samsung Electronics, and have jointly launched more than 150 QD-OLED display products. It is also reported that LG Electronics is also discussing the procurement of QD-OLED display panels with Samsung Display.

Omdia data shows that Samsung Display’s share of the self-luminous display market for monitors in 2025 will be 75% in terms of shipments. Omdia predicts that in the high-end display market above US$500, the revenue share of self-luminous panel products will increase from 22% in 2024 to 41% in 2026.
