Rumor has it that Apple's OLED MacBook will be delayed until 2027. Are you not confident about it?

[Gearbest News]Recently, Gearbest learned that according to industry insiders, market research firm Omdia stated at an internal meeting in the middle of last month that Apple will maintain the release date of the OLED iPad in 2024, but will postpone the release of the OLED MacBook to 2027.

Omdia predicts that the 11-inch and 13-inch OLED iPad, the first in Apple's iPad series to use OLED, will begin mass production in the first quarter of next year; Apple's MacBook Pro panel procurement this year is expected to drop 51% from 14.912 million units last year to 7.25 million units; it is expected that LG will account for the highest proportion of 60% of the MacBook series LCD supply this year.

In addition, it is reported that Apple has no confidence in the sales of OLED MacBook because MacBook sales declined last year, with sales falling 30% year-on-year from October to March this year. So far, Apple's decision on OLED MacBook is that there will be a significant performance difference between the entry-level model MacBook Air and the high-end model MacBook Pro. Apple OLED MacBook Air will adopt a single-stack tandem method, while the OLED MacBook Pro will adopt a dual-stack tandem method. It is reported that the dual-stack tandem method has two light-emitting layers. Compared with the single-layer OLED panel, the screen brightness of the double-layer structure panel can be expanded by 2 times and the service life can be extended by 4 times.

It is worth mentioning that according to foreign media reports, Samsung Display has invested US$3.1 billion to build an OLED production line in Asan, South Korea, and will manufacture the OLED panels needed for Apple's MacBook Pro in 2026, in two sizes: 14 inches and 16 inches.
