According to CIPA’s latest forecast, camera shipments in 2024 will be only one-sixth of those in 2014, showing continued sluggish market demand. CIPA expects total digital camera shipments in 2024 to be 7.41 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 4%. Lens-exchangeable cameras fell only slightly, down 1.8% year-on-year to 5.89 million units, but cameras with integrated lenses are expected to fall 11.6% year-on-year to 1.52 million units. Each camera manufacturer is working hard to create new customer experiences and proposals in order to arouse demand.

The new instax camera series launched by Fujifilm has achieved remarkable results in the market. With its unique design and convenient operation, this camera has won the favor of consumers. According to Fujifilm, the sales volume of instax cameras has increased by 30% over the plan, showing the high recognition of the market.

Sony took a different approach and jointly developed the “Retina Projection Camera Kit” with QD Laser. This innovative product allows visually impaired people to enjoy taking photos by installing a retinal projection viewfinder on the camera. This technology projects the scenery captured by the camera directly onto the user's retina, opening up new horizons for the visually impaired. QD Laser stated that users have responded enthusiastically to this technology and they look forward to applying it to more types of cameras in the future.

Not to be outdone, Canon is seeking breakthroughs in the field of image production. They are developing a small camera prototype that can capture VR images. By installing two lenses and achieving 360-degree shooting, it will bring a new visual experience to users. In addition, Canon also plans to launch interchangeable lenses for VR imaging that can be mounted on mirrorless cameras to meet the needs of a wider range of customers.
