According to German media reports, Brad Silverberg has a successful career as a computer scientist, developer and investor. He worked at Microsoft in the 1990s and was one of the main people responsible for developing and launching Windows 95.

At the request of German media, Silverberg posted a photo on his X account showing the first Windows 95 retail version ever produced by Microsoft. As Silverberg explains, it is a copy of the operating system that is very important to Microsoft and remains in the original packaging of the aluminum foil seal.

On July 14, 1995, almost 29 years ago, the managers of Microsoft were very excited because the new Windows version project, which had been running for three years, was about to be completed. At that time, Silverberg, the head of Microsoft’s personal system department in charge of Windows, and David Cole, a colleague who was directly responsible for Windows 95 product development at the time, submitted the signature of the so-called “Master Gold” and the first batch of retail boxes began to be produced.

Silverberg also keeps a piece of paper that comes with the first version of Windows 95, which not only contains an image of the iconic “Start” button introduced by Microsoft for the first time in the new operating system, but also says: “This is the first Windows 95 ever produced. It was made on Friday, July 14, 1995 at 5:15 pm. Enjoy it!”

After production began, the Windows team held a party at the company campus in Redmond to celebrate the launch of the product, which remains a legend in the Microsoft circle. Those present also received a somewhat “special” version. This Windows 95 “Special Edition” has been released 3,000 times and is presented to journalists, partners and employees.

The special edition is currently traded on eBay, and the price is sometimes around 2,000 euros (about 15,750 yuan). However, Silverberg’s first Windows 95 retail version could be much more valuable.
