[ Gearbest Technology News]Recently, news about Intel’s new generation Bartlett Lake-S (BTL-S) desktop processor has continued to surface, indicating that it may not be far away from its official release. Following the release of Arrow Lake, Intel simultaneously announced the Bartlett Lake-S series designed for the industrial market, which was originally positioned in scenarios such as AI workloads, multimedia processing, and analytical computing. However, judging from the latest progress, this series may not be limited to enterprise applications, but is expected to extend to the consumer market.
According to Phoronix reports, Intel's Linux engineers have begun pushing support patches for Bartlett Lake processors. Although it is currently only a simple “one line of code” patch, this rapid deployment in the Linux kernel is considered a “temporary adjustment” in Intel's product strategy, which means that the consumer version of BTL-S has been urgently put on the agenda. At the same time, overclocking expert Toppc also mentioned Bartlett Lake when talking about the AIDA64 update, further confirming the possibility of its upcoming launch.
It is understood that Bartlett Lake-S will be Intel's first desktop processor series equipped only with P cores (performance cores). It is planned to cover thermal design power consumption versions of 125W, 65W and 45W. It is equipped with 12-core Core 9, 10-core Core 7 and 8-core Core 5 respectively. There is no plan to launch the Core 3 version, which also reflects that it is mainly aimed at the high-performance market.
What’s more worth mentioning is that BTL-S will still use the LGA 1700 interface and is compatible with existing 600 series and 700 series motherboards. This means that consumers can upgrade to new processors without replacing the entire platform, lowering the entry barrier.
In the face of AMD's increasing market offensive, especially in the context of declining market share in key markets such as China, Intel urgently needs a new product with strong performance and platform compatibility advantages to boost consumer confidence. Bartlett Lake-S may be a key step for Intel. Whether it can reverse the situation deserves continued attention.
