On September 13, TrendForce released its latest report, with strong demand for global enterprise-level SSD market in the second quarter of 2024, mainly driven by the increase in volume of NVIDIA’s GPU platform and AI applications. The demand of server brands also provides support for the market. Due to the lagging supply and demand adjustment of supplier capacity, the average price of enterprise-level SSDs rose by more than 25% in the second quarter.

In terms of brand, Samsung led the competition with its complete product line, growing to $2.48 billion in the second quarter. TrendForce noted that Samsung’s PCIe 5.0 product has gradually passed customer verification and started to launch volumes, and the company’s expected interest rate will increase.

SK Group also benefited from the significant increase in AI demand. In addition, SK Hynix received additional server customer orders, the group overall increased to US$1.824 billion in the second quarter, and its market share rose slightly to nearly 32%.

Micron, the third largest SSD market, has led the supply of large-capacity products and started mass production in 2023, significantly boosting shipments in the second quarter of 2024. As server brand orders rose simultaneously, Micron’s sharp growth to US$780 million was driven.

Kioxia (Kaoxia) enterprise-level SSD also grew due to demand for server brands, reaching US$490 million.

WDC (Western Data) in the second quarter decreased slightly due to the slight decrease in demand for main customers, and its PCIe interface product growth rate was slightly lower than that of similar products, at US$164 million.
