[Zhaibi News]The long-rumored Apple VR headset device finally seems to no longer be a fake device. According to netizens who have discovered AR-related content in the developer version of the “iMessage” application, the device may be announced at the same time as next year's new iOS version.

In the developer version of the “iMessage” app, we can see new home page views, chat rooms, video clips and other features. It seems to be designed for AR, including editing or deleting recently sent messages, marking conversations as unread, as well as collaboration invitations and event updates. Many of the contents point to Apple's head-mounted display devices.
Bloomberg's Mark Gurman says mixed reality headsets will focus on gaming, media consumption, and communication. He believes Memojis and SharePlay could be central to that experience. iOS 16 brings SharePlay to Messages, making it possible for multiple users to enjoy synchronized content while chatting, such as shared playback controls for a movie or song. This requires a convenient experience for starting a SharePlay session in the Messages app on Apple's headsets.
If nothing unexpected happens, Apple's headset will have a brand new operating system called “rOS” or “realityOS”, codenamed “Oak”. Development work on this system has begun since 2017, so information about realityOS was exposed at this time, but earlier this year, mentions of it were found in App Store upload logs and Apple's open source code, finally confirming the existence of the operating system. The realityOS system will presumably have versions of many of Apple's existing applications, so a complete redesign of the Messages app seems reasonable, especially if the app will be important for collaborative experiences on the device.
