Philippine photographer Domcar was recognized by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. for his exceptional achievement in the 2023 Huawei Imaging Competition (XMAGE Awards). Domcar received the prestigious Ani ng Dangal award, presented by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA). This honor is given to Filipino artists who have earned accolades in international art competitions.

Huawei’s Imaging Competition serves as a global platform for mobile photography enthusiasts to showcase their skills. The competition encourages creators to share their artistic visions and unique experiences through photography. Since its inception in 2017, the Huawei Imaging Competition has been a driving force behind the exploration of new ways to express creativity through images. By 2022, Huawei had received almost 4 million submissions from over 170 countries, creating a vast repository of diverse and rich cultural assets.

The 2023 Huawei Imaging Competition began on April 7, 2023, and concluded with a submission deadline of August 15, 2023. The competition featured nine exciting categories, each focusing on different aspects of photography and mobile filmmaking. Here are the categories that captivated participants around the globe:

1. Good Pictures Are Never Too Late – Capture the delicate light in the night.
2. Portrait – Capture emotional expressions, either through self-portraits or others.
3. Art and Fashion – Celebrate fashion as a form of self-expression.
4. Travel – Document beautiful landscapes and distant places.
5. Hello Life – Transform ordinary moments into extraordinary images.
6. Photo Story – Combine 3-9 photos to tell a compelling story from multiple perspectives.
7. Start Shooting – Record the high-energy moments that stir excitement.
8. Mobile Movies – Short films (under 5 minutes) and feature films (5-30 minutes) exploring captivating characters.
9. Student Special Attention Award – An exclusive category for Chinese students aged 18-24.
