Global PC industry chain is accelerating its transfer to Southeast Asia in 2025: Apple and HP take the lead

Many internationally renowned PC brands, such as Apple and HP, are leading a supply chain migration from traditional Chinese manufacturing bases to emerging markets in Southeast Asia.

In recent years, with changes in market demand and adjustments in corporate strategic planning, PC industry giants have begun to seek new production bases to optimize cost structure and improve production efficiency.

Southeast Asia has become the new favorite of many PC brands with its low labor costs and good manufacturing foundation. Since 2023, American PC brands such as HP and Dell have taken the lead in taking action, working with their OEM OEM partners to gradually transfer the production line from China to Vietnam and Thailand. Renbao, as the first OEM factory to set up a new factory in Vietnam, and Quanta’s production line transfer using Thailand’s existing resources, marks the official beginning of this trend.

Entering 2025, this wave of transfer has further accelerated. According to the latest market analysis, the top four PC brands are continuing to increase OEM production orders in Southeast Asia, especially American brands, whose production proportion in Southeast Asia is expected to increase from about 15% in 2024 to 20~25%. For example, the proportion of Apple computer production in 2024 will be 89% of China and 9% of Southeast Asia, while in 2025 it will be changed to 80% of China and 20% of Southeast Asia.

It is worth noting that although Southeast Asia has advantages in labor costs, the self-sufficiency rate of its PC industry supply chain is still insufficient, and most components still need to rely on China’s exports. Therefore, in the early stage, brands mainly transferred orders for low-end and high-price sensitivity PC models to Southeast Asia to quickly adapt to the new market environment. In the future, with the improvement of production capacity and the improvement of supply chain, Southeast Asia will gradually undertake the production tasks of more medium and high-end PC models.
