Today, if you don't want to use a device from a major manufacturer like Apple, Samsung, Lenovo or Xiaomi, there are few tablet alternatives, let alone free software. Volla is committed to providing hardware with open source software to customers who have certain requirements for privacy and data protection, and the Volla tablet is a representative product.

It is reported that this tablet runs the so-called Volla OS system, which is an Android version based on AOSP and does not integrate Google services. Unlike Microsoft, Google and others, Volla comes with its own artificial intelligence technology that only runs locally. Additionally, the tablet relies on F-droid and Aurora Stores for apps, as an alternative to Google Play.

Volla tablets are also equipped with a so-called “Springboard” designed to quickly launch various tasks without having to open specific applications. There's also Ubuntu Touch, which comes with a Linux derivative for the touch screen and an optional keyboard cover that allows users to perform more complex tasks on the tablet.

The Volla tablet comes with a 12.3-inch QHD display with a resolution of 2560×1600 pixels. It is powered by MediaTek Helio G99 octa-core SoC. As we all know, this chip has been used in products such as Redmi Pad, so there won’t be any big surprises in terms of performance. However, it comes with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, which is expandable via a microSD card slot. In addition, this tablet also provides two cameras with 13 million and 5 million pixels respectively, and the front camera is 5 million pixels. It has an aluminum casing and a built-in 10,000 mAh battery.

The crowdfunding price of the Volla tablet is 558 euros (approximately RMB 4,300), and the normal selling price is about 700 euros.
