Canalys said that in the era of AI PCs, PC manufacturers are facing unprecedented unique opportunities in mainland China. Microsoft Copilot lacks a local implementation roadmap in mainland China, which greatly limits the interest of consumers and enterprise users in adopting AI capabilities and products. However, it also provides PC manufacturers and other industry participants with a large number of opportunities to innovate, experiment and optimize the development and implementation strategies of AI PC in the mainland Chinese market.

Canalys’ latest PC end user survey shows that in mainland China, many large companies have developed clear guidelines to integrate GenAI into their workflows, which is more involved than Western countries such as the UK, the US and Germany. Large enterprises engaged in Internet services and IT infrastructure such as technology companies are rapidly promoting the adoption of AI technology with their advanced digital capabilities. However, some relatively traditional industries, such as some manufacturing industries, still need to establish their own digital foundations and are not fully prepared for AI.

In order to expand the AI ​​PC market in mainland China, PC manufacturers mainly adopt two strategies. The first is to directly provide the original version of the AI ​​PC. This strategy includes the introduction of standard Windows features and high-performance hardware (such as Intel’s Core Ultra or Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite, etc.). The second is a computer that integrates self-developed or third-party AI functions, which focuses on developing proprietary AI functions and establishing an AI application ecosystem. Manufacturers such as Lenovo and Asus are adopting this method to develop their own AI agents and applications, such as Lenovo’s AI agent “Xiaotian Assistant” or Asus’ AI creation application “StoryCube”.
