Asus raises the price of many new graphics cards far exceeds the suggested retail price

In the past month, AIB manufacturers (such as Asus, Gigabyte, etc.) and retailers are continuing to push up graphics card prices. Although Nvidia and AMD gave the official suggested retail price (MSRP) at the time of release, this price has basically lost its reference value in the market.

Previously, it was reported that manufacturers are making up for the impact of rising GPU and memory costs by raising the price of graphics cards. Although initial price increases have occurred, mainstream manufacturers are still increasing prices, making some graphics cards now almost 1.5 to 2 times the official MSRP.

Take Asus as an example. The overseas price of its flagship RTX 5090 Astral OC (non-AIO version) was priced at US$3,079.99 (about 22,290 yuan) in February, and has now risen to US$3,359.99 (about 24,316 yuan), with an increase of more than 2,000 yuan in just one month, which is nearly 1.68 times the premium compared to MSRP. Meanwhile, the TUF RTX 5090 OC version, although the increase is small, with only $10, is still as high as $2,999, a premium of about 1.5 times compared to MSRP.

A similar situation also occurs on the Radeon RX 9070 series graphics cards. The starting price of the RX 9070 XT Prime OC version has risen to $719 (about 5,203 yuan), which is $120 (about 868 yuan) higher than the starting price of $599. If you want a higher-end TUF RX 9070 XT OC version, you’ll need $799 (about 5,782 yuan). What’s even more exaggerating is that the price of the RX 9070 (non-XT version) has risen to $659 (about 4,769 yuan), even $60 higher than the MSRP of the RX 9070 XT ($599).

At present, graphics card manufacturers have not given a clear explanation of the reasons for the price increase, and it is still unknown whether the graphics card market will see a price decline in the future. But what is certain is that in the current market environment, it is almost impossible for players to purchase a new generation of graphics cards with official MSRP.
