As early as May 2024, Ubisoft announced that the game will support Mac devices and plans to be released in November of the same year. However, the game has experienced multiple delays and has finally been confirmed to be officially launched in March 2025.
Assassin’s Creed: Shadow is the latest orthodox sequel to the Assassin’s Creed series, continuing the story of the Assassin Brotherhood and the Templars. This time, the game background is set in the 16th century Japanese Warring States Period. Players will play two optional protagonists to play the game. The two characters not only have different combat styles, but also have independent skill trees, growth systems, weapon selection and attributes. Players can experience completely different game methods according to their preferences. Naoe relies on secret actions to complete the task, while Yasuke is good at confrontation head-on.
This game adopts a huge open world setting, where players can explore multiple scenes such as castle towns, busy ports, rural fields and quiet shrines. At the same time, the game also adds dynamic weather and seasonal changes to bring a more immersive experience. For example, different seasons will affect how the environment is presented and may even affect the player’s combat and stealth strategies.
Ubisoft executive producer Marc-Alexis Cté said that “Assassin’s Creed: Shadow” is Ubisoft’s most ambitious work to date. The team has invested a lot of resources to create this game to provide players with a richer sense of immersion.
It should be noted that the Mac version of the game only supports devices equipped with Apple’s self-developed chips. The Macs with M3 and M4 series chips can enable real-time ray tracing, bringing more realistic light and shadow performance to the game. Currently, “Assassin’s Creed: Shadow” is available for pre-order on the Mac App Store, with the game priced at $70 and will be officially unlocked on March 20.
