Apple pushes multiple operating system updates to address potential security vulnerabilities and improve protection

On November 20, Apple officially pushed iOS 18.1.1, iPadOS 18.1.1, visionOS 2.1.1 and macOS Sequoia 15.1.1 operating system updates. These updates are minor iterations and optimizations of the corresponding system versions released in September this year. For eligible iPhone and iPad devices, users only need to enter the “Settings”, “General” and “Software Update” options in sequence to receive and install these new versions of the operating system wirelessly. Apple stated in the release notes that iOS 18.1.1 and iPadOS 18.1.1 include critical security fixes. It strongly recommends all users install them as soon as possible.

All Apple Vision Pro headset users can download and install visionOS 2.1.1 through the Settings app, General and Software Updates. The update released by Apple also resolves security vulnerabilities in JavaScriptCore and WebKit. According to Apple, these vulnerabilities have been exploited maliciously on some devices.

A vulnerability in JavaScriptCore could allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code by processing malicious web content. WebKit vulnerabilities may lead to cross-site scripting attacks. Apple says both issues have been actively exploited on Intel-based Mac systems. These vulnerabilities primarily affect older Mac devices, but other devices remain at risk. They are vulnerable to the same security issues.
