[ Gearbest Technology News]On January 15, local time, according to a regulatory document viewed by MacRumors, an unreleased Apple monitor with model number A3350 appeared in China’s regulatory database today. This file is likely to correspond to Apple's next-generation Studio Display or Pro Display XDR, but the current information is limited and it is not yet certain which one it is.
The listing shows that this new model will be equipped with a high-performance LCD display. The existing Studio Display and Pro Display XDR both use LCD panels, so this information by itself doesn't narrow the scope of speculation. But it seems to rule out the possibility of using an OLED panel for this particular new product.
There have been rumors that Apple is developing a new Studio Display, which may support ProMotion technology with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz, HDR, and be equipped with an A19 or A19 Pro chip. Even a new Studio Display with mini-LED backlight is still essentially an LCD panel, so this document does not rule out this possibility.
The current Studio Display appeared in the same database about three months before release (released in March 2022). If this document points to the new Studio Display, then it may be unveiled around March or April this year. Apple is likely to release the new Studio Display together with the new Mac Studio equipped with the M5 chip.
There are fewer rumors about the new Pro Display XDR, but the model is definitely due for an update since it was released in December 2019.
If the next generation Studio Display adopts mini-LED backlighting and supports HDR, its maximum brightness and contrast ratio will exceed existing models. The chip upgrade from the current A13 Bionic to A19 or A19 Pro is expected to bring about performance improvements, camera-related improvements and other functional enhancements.
The current Studio Display is equipped with a 27-inch 5K resolution LCD screen with a refresh rate of 60Hz, a maximum brightness of 600 nits, an integrated camera and speakers, and provides 1 Thunderbolt 3 port and 3 USB-C ports. Its starting price in the US market is $1,599.
