According to reports, AMD's upcoming chip is marked “GFX13”. This new generation architecture contains components called “Wavegroup”, which is speculated to be able to integrate multiple wavefronts or small clusters of 32 or 64 threads to improve GPU performance.
At present, AMD has remained silent on this and has not issued any official statement. But the leaked information suggests that UDNA is expected to be AMD's first truly “unified” GPU architecture, meaning it will not only be applied to standalone GPUs, but will also be integrated into the next generation of CPUs. Unlike the RDNA 4 architecture that is only used for independent GPUs, the UDNA architecture appears to be making efforts in the fields of independent GPUs and integrated GPUs.
There are rumors that the upcoming Zen 6 CPU and UDNA graphics kit will both adopt TSMC's advanced N3E node manufacturing process. However, consumers are not able to see the Zen 6 chip equipped with UDNA integrated GPUs for the time being. Most Zen 6 chips are expected to continue using RDNA 3.5 cores, similar to products such as Strix Point, Strix Halo and Krackan Point.
It is worth noting that AMD has decided to skip the development stage of high-end RDNA 4 GPUs and instead focus on UDNA architecture. Therefore, the first GPU chip with powerful performance is likely to be launched based on the UDNA architecture.
Industry news said that the mass production plan for UDNA components is scheduled for the second quarter of 2026. Before this, AMD is expected to continue to expand its RDNA 4 product line and launch more RX 9000 series graphics cards.
