Looking ahead to the third quarter, TrendForce expects global notebook shipments to continue to grow to 43.08 million units, with the quarterly growth rate converging to 6.5%.

Gearbest learned that TrendForce has specifically analyzed (predicted) the shipment of notebook computers in each quarter. First, in the first quarter, the primary goal of notebook computer brands was to fully destock terminal inventories, and the upstream momentum of pulling goods slowed down, thus affecting the shipment (Sell-in) performance of the ODM end. Secondly, starting from the second quarter, as the inventory of brand complete machines and components gradually approached a controllable level, the pressure on the channel side was relieved, and the demand for replenishment gradually emerged. Subsequently, the third quarter will benefit from the support of traditional seasonal momentum. The back-to-school trend and holiday promotions will further stimulate the demand for stocking, driving the growth of global notebook shipments.
It is worth mentioning that after seven quarters of adjustment, Chromebook has begun to release tender orders for education projects in North America, Indonesia, and India. In addition, Google will officially collect Chromebook licensing fees on July 1.
In addition, TrendForce also stated that due to the continued economic downturn, the notebook market should still be in a consolidation period throughout 2023, with overall shipments estimated to be approximately 163 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 12.2%.
