[Gearbest News]On August 16, the latest report released by international data company IDC showed that in the second quarter of 2022, China’s tablet market shipped approximately 7.29 million units, a year-on-year increase of 1.9%, continuing the growth momentum in the first quarter. From a global market perspective, global tablet shipments reached 40.5 million units in the second quarter of 2022, a year-on-year increase of 0.3%. This is also the first time the global tablet market has grown after three consecutive quarters of year-on-year decline.

Specifically, in the second quarter of this year, China's tablet consumer market shipped a total of approximately 6.73 million units, a year-on-year increase of 13%; corresponding to the consumer market, the commercial market shipped only 570,000 units, a year-on-year decrease of 52%. From the perspective of brands, Lenovo achieved rapid month-on-month growth, while Apple, Huawei, Honor, vivo, and OPPO achieved steady month-on-month growth.

IDC pointed out, “After Honor and Xiaomi, mainstream consumer electronics brands such as OPPO and vivo have entered the tablet track to promote industry competition. Newly entered brands have driven the continued growth of the tablet industry in China, and have also accelerated the industry reshuffle of tablet PCs and lowered prices.” In terms of price, in the second quarter, the average sales unit price of China's tablet computer market dropped by 9.4% from the previous quarter, accelerating the downward popularity of the product.

Due to the severe market situation, “cost-effectiveness” has become the focus of consumers' attention. Based on this, “cost-effectiveness” will still be the main selling point of each new product in the second half of 2022, with products under 3,000 yuan attracting more attention. Looking forward to the second half of this year, IDC believes that the market is not optimistic.
