【Gearbest News】Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 15 series with a USB-C port later this year. As confirmed earlier, the EU has required the brand to take this step on its best-selling product line. According to a new report from Mark Gurman, AirPods Pro will follow suit. In addition, the analyst also hinted that future generations of AirPods Pro will be equipped with health sensors and even double as hearing aids.
Apple is said to be upgrading the AirPods Pro charging case to include a USB-C port, but no further hardware changes are expected for the product, which is expected to be released this fall alongside the iPhone 15 series.
While we may not see any major upgrades to AirPods Pro this year, the next generation is expected to have new health sensors. Earlier rumors suggested that AirPods Pro (2nd generation) would be equipped with sensors for functions such as heart rate measurement, but the product was released last year without these sensors. If the usual update schedule is followed, a new generation with major hardware upgrades could be released in 2025.
These new sensors are expected to bring at least one new feature to the product – body temperature measurement. Last year's Apple Watch Series 8 and Ultra versions were equipped with sensors that could measure the temperature of the user's wrist while sleeping, but AirPods Pro will measure temperature through the ear canal, which is said to be a more accurate method. It may be able to help determine if the user has a cold and be able to track the same in Command.
Gurman also said that Apple has begun to position AirPods as hearing aids. The brand already has features such as Live Listen and Conversation Boost. Apple has begun recruiting engineers from this field. The hearing test feature can also allow users to check whether they have hearing impairments.
