[Gearbest News]On July 4, according to the “Sci-Tech Innovation Board Daily”, TrendForce's latest report shows that global notebook shipments in the first quarter reached 33.9 million units, a decrease of 13% from the previous month. The survey said that terminal channels in North America, Europe, Southeast Asia and other places began to show notebook replenishment orders in March. The agency also said that as consumers' disposable income is limited by the economic environment, the market replenishment models are mostly concentrated in mid- and low-end consumer models, with retail prices ranging from US$400 to US$600.
According to TrendForce, global notebook shipments will reach 40.45 million units in the second quarter of this year, up 15.7% from the previous quarter, marking the first growth in six consecutive quarters, but still down 11.6% from the same period last year. Looking ahead to the third quarter, global notebook shipments are expected to continue to grow to 43.08 million units, with the growth rate narrowing to 6.5% from the previous quarter.
TrendForce believes that due to the continued economic downturn, the notebook market should still be in a consolidation period in 2023, with overall shipments estimated to be approximately 163 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 12.2%.
However, as inventory reduction is coming to an end, notebook ODM companies have given positive expectations for the market outlook in the third quarter of 2023, indicating that demand from clients has shown signs of recovery. As for whether the notebook market can return to its previous level in the second half of the year, many notebook supply chain companies, including connectors and power supplies, believe that although the worst of the notebook industry has passed and there are signs of order return, it ultimately depends on when the overall market can return to pre-epidemic normality.
