[Mobile China News]On July 26, Mobile China learned that there is supply chain news that Apple intends to introduce folding design into the MacBook or iPad product line, and will release it as early as 2026. In addition, Google also plans to further expand its folding product lineup and launch a folding tablet.

Relevant supply chain companies revealed that they have been accompanying Apple in the design and development of the foldable iPhone for many years, but the customer has not yet stated that it will start mass production, and the chances of launching it in 2024 are expected to be slim. After Google released the Pixel Fold folding screen phone in May, Apple has become the only mainstream smartphone brand in the world that does not have a foldable phone. Some analysts believe that this may put Apple on the sidelines in an area that may generate tens of billions of dollars in revenue in the future.
While Apple hasn't released any devices with foldable screens yet, rumors suggest the company is considering all options long-term, including foldable iPhones, iPads, and Macs. However, it remains to be seen whether Apple will actually launch these devices or just limit its plans to the R&D stage.
However, according to CCS Insight analysts Ben Wood and Omdia, Apple's first product entering the field of foldable devices is likely to be a tablet rather than a foldable iPhone. Wood predicts that “a super high-end iPad with a flexible display” will appear in 2024. According to reports, the foldable iPad will have a new design and be equipped with a lightweight and durable carbon fiber stand. Similar to foldable phones from brands like Samsung and Google, the foldable iPad will have a hinge that opens and closes like a book, providing a larger display than existing models when unfolded.
