Apple plans to release two OLED iPads next year, with 11/13-inch models

[Gearbest News]At 1 a.m. on September 13, Beijing time, Apple held a new product launch conference and launched a variety of new products including the iPhone 15 series and the second-generation Apple Watch Ultra. It is worth noting that Apple did not launch a new iPad at the conference. Now Mobile China has learned from foreign media that Apple plans to release two OLED iPads next year, and its OLED panel purchase volume is expected to be 10 million pieces. Last year, it accounted for 73% of the 13.6 million LCD panels Apple purchased for the iPad Pro. Industry insiders estimate that OLED iPad panel purchases and finished product shipments next year will be significantly lower than expected. The recent downturn in the IT industry and price increases brought about by OLED applications may become negative factors.

Industry insiders said that the current general prediction is that the number of panels purchased by Apple for OLED iPads will reach 10 million pieces per year. So far, Apple has only used liquid crystal displays (LCD) on the iPad. Apple plans to apply OLED to the iPad Pro series lineup next year and release 11-inch and 13-inch models.

Foreign media reported that the OLED iPad is expected to be a product that will increase the penetration rate of OLED in the IT product market. In smartphones, the OLED penetration rate exceeds 40%, but in the IT product market such as tablets, laptops, and monitors, the OLED penetration rate is only 2-3%. Apple plans to gradually apply OLED to MacBooks in the future, starting with next year's iPad.
