SK hynix achieved its best performance in history in the first quarter, operating profit margin reached 72%

[ Gearbest Technology News]SK Hynix announced record financial results for the first quarter of 2026. Its revenue, operating profit and operating profit margin all reached the highest levels since the company was founded.

The company initially announced consolidated revenue of 52.5763 trillion won and operating profit of 37.6103 trillion won in the first quarter. Revenue increased 198.1% from the same period last year (17.6391 trillion won) and 60.2% from the previous quarter (32.8267 trillion won). Operating profit increased by 96.2% from the previous quarter (19.1696 trillion won), nearly doubling; it increased significantly by 405.5% from the same period last year (7.4405 trillion won). Operating profit margin reached 72%.

This performance slightly exceeded market expectations and was higher than the operating profit consensus value calculated by FnGuide (36.3955 trillion won), but failed to reach the 40 trillion won level predicted by some securities companies.

The improvement in performance was mainly due to the growth in sales of high value-added products brought about by the expansion of investment in AI infrastructure. Despite the seasonal off-season, the optimization of the product portfolio, focusing on high value-added memories such as HBM, DRAM for servers, and eSSD, drove performance improvements.

The company's financial structure has also improved. As of the end of the first quarter, cash assets reached 54.3 trillion won, an increase of more than 19 trillion won from the previous quarter. Borrowings fell to 19.3 trillion won, and the company received about 35 trillion won in net cash.

SK Hynix plans to significantly expand its investment scale this year, focusing on the launch of the M15X production line, the construction of Yongin semiconductor cluster and the procurement of EUV equipment. The investment scale will increase compared with last year. The company said it will strategically expand its production base that can proactively respond to mid- to long-term demand growth and make investments that consider demand visibility while ensuring supply stability and financial soundness.
