[Mobile China News]TCL recently announced a series of products at CES, including TVs, tablets, smartphones, AR glasses and laptops, and launched its first two (US exclusive) 30 series mobile phones. Now, TCL returns to the Mobile World Congress (MWC) with more new products. This time, there are five 30 series phones, one of which is a 5G model.
This time, TCL launched five new phones, all priced at less than 300 euros (approximately RMB 2,100), and was the first to be launched in Europe. Four of them are 4G phones, and one high-end phone supports 5G connectivity. These phones are: TCL 30 5G, TCL 30+, TCL 30, TCL 30 SE and TCL 30 E.
The main selling points of this series of phones include the screen, which uses TCL’s NXTVISION display optimization technology and a 20:9 aspect ratio. The 30 5G, 30+ and 30 feature a 6.7-inch AMOLED panel with FHD+ (1080 x 2400, 395ppi) resolution and a 60Hz refresh rate. The 30 SE and 30 E feature a 6.52-inch waterdrop display with HD+ (720 x 1600, 269ppi) resolution.
Except for the low-end TCL 30 E, all 30-series phones have a triple rear camera system, including a 50-megapixel main camera, a 2-megapixel depth camera, and a 2-megapixel macro camera. The front camera configurations vary: the 30 5G and 30+ use a 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera; the 30 and 30 SE have an 8-megapixel front camera, and the entry-level 30 E has a 5-megapixel front camera.
The 6.7-inch devices (30 5G, 30+, 30) all weigh 184 grams, are 7.74 mm thick, and have a screen-to-body ratio of 91.7%. The 6.52-inch models (30 SE, 30 E) are heavier (190g) and thicker (8.9mm), with a lower screen-to-body ratio (89.1%). Although TCL describes these phones as “durable,” the phones don't have an IP rating for dust and water resistance.
According to TCL, the 30 Series phones all benefit from large batteries (the 30 5G, 30+, and 30 have 5,010mAh batteries, and the 30 SE and 30 E have 5,000mAh), capable of delivering “longer-than-a-day battery life.” The three high-end phones support 18W fast charging, 15W for the 30 SE and 10W for the 30 E. AI smart charging will optimize charging cycles and minimize battery degradation.
The 30 Series phones will ship with Android 12, and TCL plans to support both OS upgrades, though details may change depending on the carrier variant. However, TCL confirmed that the 30+ and 30 models have passed the Android Enterprise Recommended Program certification and will receive at least two years of security patches and at least one operating system upgrade.
TCL's 30 series phones all use MediaTek chipsets: Dimensity 700 (30 5G), Helio G37 (30+, 30) and Helio G25 (30 SE, 30 E).
