Samsung is rumored to develop foldable screen mobile phone panel for Apple, 10-inch foldable iPad exposed

According to industry insiders on June 4, Apple was recently found to have sent requests for information (RFI) related to folding screen product development to Samsung Display and LG Display. Although the specifications have not yet been determined, Apple is working with two Korean panel companies to develop different folding screen product projects. Samsung Display is responsible for products close to folding screen mobile phones, and LG Display is responsible for folding screen IT product projects.

Korean media said that this 7-inch (second half) to 8-inch (early) product is expected to be Apple’s first folding screen product known to the industry, and is believed to be a model close to the folding screen iPhone. The product is a model expected to be similar in size to the 8.3-inch iPad mini. Currently, this model of panel is being developed by Samsung Display Company. If the current situation continues, Samsung Display can exclusively supply panels for folding screen products, thanks to its mass production experience and production capabilities.

It is reported that Apple has not yet decided whether the folding form of this product will be horizontal folding or vertical flipping. Samsung display partners are still preparing responses for both designs.

On the other hand, LG Display is developing a folding screen IT product project. The screen size after unfolding is 10 inches, which is speculated to be an iPad product. It's likely that it will use the same system as the existing iPad. Korean media said that LG Display is also co-developing folding screen IT product projects with a number of partners.

Apple revealed to the above two panel companies that unless the crease in the UTG center of the folding screen panel is removed, it will be difficult to launch folding screen products.
