People familiar with the matter said that Apple plans to announce the first M4 Macs and new entry-level iPads at its next launch event “in the coming weeks”; MacBook Pro, iMac, and Mac mini are expected to update the M4 series chips this year, followed by MacBook Air, Mac Studio, and Mac Pro in 2025.
Apple may release new products next month
According to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, Apple will equip the new M4 Mac series with at least 16GB of RAM as standard, covering the basic 14-inch MacBook Pro, new Mac mini and new iMac. Given that Apple's base Macs have come standard with 8GB of RAM for the past eight years, this upgrade is undoubtedly a welcome change.
MacBook Pros typically come with the latest chips, so an M4 upgrade makes sense. After updating to M3 in the fall of 2023, the launch of the M4 version is almost inevitable.
As for the Mac Mini, rumors suggest that the new Mac Mini may have a more compact design and launch in an M4 version, and possibly even an M4 Pro model.
