Runar Bjrhovde, senior analyst at Omdia, pointed out: “Although the market growth slowed down this quarter due to the gradual decline in equipment replacement wave during the epidemic and the continued weak consumer demand, most manufacturers still showed strong stability and resilience.” He further explained that in the current environment, manufacturers are actively optimizing operational efficiency and achieving scale synergy through tactical adjustments. Although many manufacturers have high expectations for the second quarter, they have had to lower their production targets due to concerns about stock backlogs.
“Although the market growth was slow in early 2025, major manufacturers are fully prepared for this year that is expected to remain flat overall,” said Amber Liu, head of smartphone research at Omdia. She believes that many consumers who originally planned to change their phones in the first half of the year may choose to buy new equipment during the shopping festival or promotion at the end of the year.
