According to the latest data released by research firm Canalys, global tablet shipments increased by 18% year-on-year to 35.9 million units in the second quarter of 2024. As for brands, Apple still maintains its leading position in the global tablet market, with shipments of 13.9 million units, accounting for 39% of the market share; Samsung achieved a year-on-year growth of 13%, with shipments of 6.8 million units; Huawei ranked third, with shipments of 2.5 million units, a year-on-year growth of 51%; Lenovo ranked fourth, with shipments of 2.5 million units, a year-on-year growth of 16%; Xiaomi ranked fifth, surpassing Amazon with an extremely high 106% growth rate and 2.1 million units.
Based on a simple calculation of 2 million units shipped in a single quarter, it is indeed very likely that Xiaomi’s tablet shipments exceed 8 million units this year.
