The Gearbestlearned that this growth will be driven mainly by demand from entry-level consumer and educational markets.
TrendForce noted that although the industry plans to launch a number of eye-catching AI laptops in the second half of 2024, its high prices may lead to delays in consumer purchases. Therefore, it is expected that the significant contribution of AI models to the supply chain will be realized in 2025. At that time, driven by demand for replacement of mobile phones in the business field, global laptop shipments are expected to increase by 5% year-on-year.
The global supply chain landscape has undergone significant changes in recent years. Due to factors such as rising labor costs, laptop brands are seeking diversified supply chain layouts. These manufacturers gradually shifted their production chains to Vietnam and Thailand.
According to TrendForce, thanks to the active layout of Dell and Apple, it is expected that by 2024, the proportion of laptop OEMs in Vietnam will increase to 6%. Although Thailand is a rising star, with HP and Quanta’s close cooperation in the local area, and Insider will join the production ranks in the second half of the year, Thailand’s share of global laptop production will rapidly grow to 2.3%.
TrendForce also predicts that the proportion of global laptop supply chain transfers will reach 12.4% in 2024. Global laptop production is moving towards a more diversified and flexible direction.
