At the beginning of the new year in 2025, Apple once again updated its list of “old antiques” and “obsolete products”. In this update, the iconic Apple Watch Series 4 and the 2019 15-inch MacBook Pro were officially included in the ranks of “antique” products, triggering the nostalgia of many Apple fans.
Apple Watch Series 4
Starting January 1, Apple classified all versions of the Apple Watch Series 4 (including aluminum and stainless steel models in 40mm and 44mm sizes) as “old antique” products worldwide. Apple launched the Series 4 in September 2018. This model introduced a major design upgrade with a larger display, narrower borders, and rounded corners. It offered a fresh and modern look to the Apple Watch lineup.
In 2024, Apple ended system update support for the Series 4 with the release of watchOS 11. Its last major software update was watchOS 10, marking the product’s software lifecycle completion.
Apple considers “vintage” products to be those discontinued for over five years. These items may still qualify for repairs if parts are available. After seven years, Apple classifies them as “obsolete,” meaning they no longer qualify for official maintenance. The Apple Watch Series 4 now falls into the “old antique” category, and finding repair parts may become difficult in the future.
2019 15-inch MacBook Pro
Apple has added the 2019 15-inch MacBook Pro to the “old antiques” list. This model was the final 15-inch MacBook Pro Apple released before replacing it with the 16-inch version later that year. The 16-inch MacBook Pro is notable for being among Apple’s last laptops with Intel processors.
Although classified as an “old antique,” the 2019 15-inch MacBook Pro can still run the latest version of macOS. This sets it apart from the Apple Watch Series 4, which no longer supports new software updates. For more on Apple updates and tech news, check out our latest articles.
