According to Gearbest, foreign media have learned that Google has canceled the Pixel Tablet 2, Google’s second-generation Pixel tablet. This could be a sign that Google is abandoning its tablet plans altogether. It is worth mentioning that it was previously reported that Google would cancel the Pixel Tablet 3 project.
Foreign media report that Google’s internal sources provided substantial details about the Pixel Tablet 2, making this information highly credible. These sources claim that Google has decided to cancel the Pixel Tablet 2 due to concerns about potential financial losses.
Analysis suggests that Google has not yet started developing the Pixel Tablet 3. Meanwhile, the Pixel Tablet 2 remains in the early stages of development. As a result, foreign media are confident that the canceled device is not the Pixel Tablet 3. Previous reports mentioned that the codename for the canceled device was “kiyomi.” The sources confirmed that this codename belongs to the Pixel Tablet 2, not the Pixel Tablet 3.

Gearbesthas learned that there is evidence that “kiyomi” is a Pixel tablet equipped with Tensor G4, which is the same chip as the Google Pixel 9 series. Leaked documents from Google’s gChips team show that the Pixel Tablet 3 will be powered by Tensor G6. Furthermore, according to a roadmap leaked by gChips, the Pixel Tablet 3 is scheduled to be released in 2027. For reference, the Pixel Tablet 2 is scheduled to be released in 2025.
According to reports, Google was previously developing Wi-Fi and 5G versions of Pixel Tablet 2. In addition, the company is also developing an official keyboard (with touchpad) accessory for the device, indicating that increased productivity will be one of the highlights of the new device.
