Under normal circumstances, AMD will give priority to launching high-end product lines, and then gradually release mid-to-low-end products for the mass market. However, AMD did not launch its 800 series entry-level chipset motherboards as scheduled in 2024, leaving a blank period in the market. However, recently, Videocardz exposed photos of a Gigabyte B850M AORUS ELITE WIFI6E ICE motherboard, which also means that the B850 series motherboards have finally begun to enter the supply chain, marking the anticipated AMD B850 motherboard release.
The exposed photos reveal little surprise, but they show the packaging and design of the motherboard. The Gigabyte B850M AORUS ELITE WIFI6E ICE features four DIMM slots and an all-white design with the classic AORUS logo. The VRM radiator prominently displays the brand logo, creating an eye-catching visual effect.
The B850 motherboard will support both PCIe Gen5 and Gen4 standards. Gen5 will primarily serve NVMe storage devices, while Gen4 will focus on graphics card support. However, motherboard manufacturers can allocate Gen5 channels to discrete graphics cards for higher performance.
It is worth mentioning that the B850 series motherboards also support memory and CPU overclocking functions. This feature gives the series an edge over Intel’s competitors, especially when it comes to offering stronger performance tuning options.
According to current news, AMD plans to officially release two low-budget motherboards, B850 and B840, at CES 2025. This means that consumers will have more choices when purchasing Ryzen 9000 series processors to choose the motherboard that best suits their needs.
