[Gearbest Technology News]Recently, well-known Apple industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo revealed in his latest report that the iPad Pro equipped with the next-generation M5 chip is expected to enter mass production in the second half of 2025. This highly anticipated product is mainly assembled by China’s BYD Electronics, which will also exclusively assemble the HomePod device with a display that Apple plans to launch at the end of 2025. The M5 chip iPad Pro production is expected to drive significant advancements in Apple’s tablet lineup, marking a new phase in the high-performance tablet market.
Ming-Chi Kuo revealed that Apple has ordered M5 chips from TSMC. This chip will be built using TSMC’s 3-nanometer advanced process technology and will feature a new ARM architecture design. Compared to the M4 chip, the M5 will deliver significant improvements in both performance and power consumption. It will also incorporate TSMC’s system on integrated chip (SoIC) technology, further enhancing computing efficiency.
Apple chose not to use the more expensive 2nm process, balancing technology and cost. However, the 3nm process still offers major advantages, making the M5 chip more competitive. Earlier this year, Apple launched the iPad Pro with an M4 chip and an OLED display, marking a new milestone in its high-end tablet line. The M5 chip will push performance even higher in the future.
BYD Electronics’ role in Apple’s supply chain has grown in recent years. The company will handle the main assembly for the M5 iPad Pro, showing its strength in high-end electronics manufacturing. Additionally, BYD will exclusively produce the new HomePod with a display, expected to launch in late 2025. This marks a key step for Apple in expanding its smart home product lineup.
