According to reports, AMD is gearing up and plans to launch new Strix Point Halo and Krackan Point APUs at CES in January 2025. Recently, someone accidentally leaked the Geekbench scores of the Acer Swift Go 16 laptop, revealing some secrets about the new chip. A Krackan Point engineering sample, code-named “100-000000713-40_Y,” recently surfaced. This chip is likely the Ryzen AI 7 350 processor, built on the Zen 5 architecture. It boasts an 8-core design, divided into two 4-core clusters. The base frequency is 2GHz, and it can boost up to 5.05GHz. Additionally, it includes 16MB of L3 cache and 8MB of L2 cache.
Benchmark results show that the Ryzen AI 7 350 achieves a single-core score of 2677 and a multi-core score of 11742. It competes with Intel’s Core Ultra 7 258V from the Lunar Lake series. Additionally, it surpasses the previous-generation Ryzen 7 8845HS from the Hawk Point platform. However, it still falls short when compared to the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, which features 12 cores. These AMD next-generation processor benchmarks underscore the impressive capabilities of this new chip.
In addition to its strong CPU performance, the APU features a built-in Strix Point XDNA 2 NPU, delivering 50 TOPS of powerful AI computing power. It also integrates a Radeon 860M GPU with 8 computing units. The high-performance Strix Halo series could be named Ryzen AI Max, and its iGPU may challenge the Nvidia RTX 4060 notebook graphics card.
AMD is preparing several new products, including Fire Range CPUs designed for gaming notebooks, X3D notebook CPUs for handheld consoles, and next-generation Ryzen Z2 chips. These are expected to outperform the Ryzen Z1 Extreme.
